Description of Position:
We are now seeking an experienced Purchasing and Logistics Manager to join our growing team at our Lynn, Massachusetts location! The duties and responsibilities of this job are as follows:
- Purchasing of all inventoried and non-inventory products for the Lynn, MA facility
- Coordinate drop shipments on behalf of ERC between the various distribution centers within The Tranzonic Companies
- Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate pricing, including spot buy purchases
- Obtain trucking rates for incoming/outgoing shipments, both for salesreps and for long haul shipments
- Schedule inbound shipments with vendors
- Track purchase order delivery
- Follow up on delayed drop shipments
- Ensure that inventory integrity is at appropriate levels through regular cycle counting
- Work with VP of Sales to ensure that underperforming inventory is minimized and removed from warehouse
- Develop and execute regular inventory rationalization work
- Regular review of lead times, safety stocks, and service levels to achieve service level and key inventory goals
- Research problematic freight and vendor invoices for payment
- Monitor and release backorders
Education and Qualifications:
- Bachelors in Business, supply chain, accounting or similar degree
- Deep understanding of inventory management fundamentals including, ABC ranking, Services levels, safety stocks, lead times, turn and earn, ROIC, etc.
- Understands procurement principles including use of EOQ, Min Max, reorder points, etc.
- Understands VMI, JIT, and other vendor management principles
- Can negotiate with suppliers
- Understands fundamental inventory accounts like FIFO, Inventory reserve, DIOH, and balance sheet impact
- Understands the importance of good inbound practices and product flow through warehouse
- Understands production scheduling in a manufacturing environment
- Has used statistical modeling demand planning/forecasting
- Demonstrates ability to communicate among multiple constituencies and departments
- Understands the importance of coordination with operations and has ability to build support for initiatives
- Is capable of developing analytics and understands chain of custody
